Transform Your Writing

If you’d like to experience an empowering retreat with ninety talented, supportive women writers in the desert mountains where Georgia O’Keeffe painted, consider applying for the August 2013 AROHO Retreat at Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, New Mexico. Applications will be accepted for consideration until May 15, 2013, or until all slots are filled, whichever comes first.

How the 2011 Retreat Transformed Me

During the 2011 AROHO retreat, I came to feel a profound sense of presence, focus, acceptance, and support. I made connections with women I admire and respect—women I’ve come to love—friendships that will last a lifetime. These experiences have given me the courage to take my writing seriously and the pleasure of being part of a group of writers who exchange manuscripts, share aspirations, and celebrate each others’ successes.

Gift of Freedom

In addition to the biannual retreats, AROHO offers a variety of awards. This week poet Diane Gilliam was awarded the $50,000 Gift of Freedom. Nonfiction writer Florencia Ramirez and fiction writer Ire´ne Lara Silva were each awarded $5,000. Congratulations, all!
